How is required margin calculated?

Required margin = (contract size × lots × price) ÷ leverage. It's the collateral your broker locks while a position is open.

What's the difference between leverage and margin?

Leverage is a ratio (e.g. 1:100) set by your broker. Margin is the actual money locked to hold a position at that leverage.

Because margin is priced continuously — as the price of the pair moves, the notional value moves with it, and required margin follows.
